It happened that one day a Dog had managed to get a hold of a piece of meat and was carrying it home in his mouth to eat it in peace.

Now on his way home he had to cross a board that was lying across a running brook. As he crossed, he happened to looked down and saw his own shadow reflected in the water beneath him.

Thinking this was another dog who had another piece of meat, he made up his mind that he wanted to have that too!

So he made a snap at the shadow in the water, but as he opened his mouth the piece of meat he was carrying fell out, dropped into the water and was gone. The dog went home with nothing.

Moral of The Dog and The Shadow: It is not wise to be too greedy.

Wanting more and more and more often leads to loosing what we already have. Be satisfied and thankful for what you have, rather than being greedy trying to accumulate more than you really require.
