Will sunset paint completion
on a work we're proud to show?
When placing our last signature
will satisfaction glow?

An outer coat of glory
cannot hide an inner lie;
a gilded frame on sloppy strokes
won't fool the viewer's eye.

Concern for others is revealed
in colors that we choose:
for love reflects in tender shades,
our care in wistful hues.

Some dawdle at their palettes
thinking time is theirs to waste,
but clever angles can't conceal
the lines we draw in haste.

Each entry is required,
not a choice or random chance;
how sad if our submission
never rates a second glance.
